Orientation & Academic Prologues

Welcome to Keck Graduate Institute! We’re thrilled you’ve chosen to join us and look forward to starting this journey with you. To help you transition smoothly into your new graduate career, we’ve organized several key events:

New Student Orientation

  • Date: Montday, August 19, 2024
  • Time: 8 am to 4 pm

Academic Prologues

  • Dates: Tuesday, August 20 - Friday, August 23, 2024

Attendance at both events is required. Please register for these events by completing the registration form by Monday, August 12. Detailed schedules will be available after June 24, so return to this page then.

All incoming students must complete the tasks listed on the Pre-Orientation Checklist. You must complete everything on the list by Friday, August 16 (unless otherwise specified). This checklist is designed to help you meet all requirements and access resources to ensure a successful start to your graduate studies.

Orientation FAQ

Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 8-10 am. International students are also expected to attend New Student Orientation on Monday, August 19, 2024.

Orientation will be located at Pitzer College and Keck Graduate Institute, both in Claremont CA. The schedule will be published on our KGI Orientation website.

No, students do not have to pay for Orientation.

Yes, Orientation is mandatory for all incoming new students.

No, guests will be allowed at Orientation.

Laptop and Software Requirements

Even with open access to computer lab PCs, KGI requires that all students have a personal laptop computer and specific software. Students are required to use computers frequently for communications and academic activities. Access to the Internet is also very important for supplementing course materials.
